inventory ----
• Family sword in his apartment in D3. This is not the one that was broken in the duel.
Main-gauche that is still undamaged.
• Several other methods of weaponry. Guy was in the militia, okay. And likes the anonymity of D4, even if he hasn't had the time for it.
• Oh, real books. He has a few he selected from the family home he won't go back to just yet. See the following.
• Technically owns a fucking mansion in D1 but his father is sick/dying and his mother keeps telling him to come visit so tbh he's in D1 as infrequently as possible.
• Higher education. Considering most in Ds 2-4 don't. Waste money and time and shit on that. Hell, even a lot of D1 doesn't. Scientists are creatives who took the data chip integration well, or savants.
• Extremely private safehouse in D4.
• Lots of wine, scotch, rum, absinthe, liquid sunshine, &c.
• ~Mysterious locket he's always wearing.
• That one leather jacket he likes and a wardrobe that's just as totally ratty and not up to date.
• Plus one military uniform and one actual honest to god tuxedo, neither of which he wears if he can help it.
• Nanites Echo gave him.
timeline ---------- background ----------
• Born Olivier d'Athos de la Fére, oldest son of his generation and older brother to Thomas de la Fére, four years his junior.
• Grew up in D1, family who were once French aristocrats. nobility being vogue, they capitalised.
• Dutifully learned everything his parents wanted him to, as the older son. His younger brother, Thomas, however, was more or less allowed to do whatever he wanted.
• Despite this, they were still quite close. Olivier didn't begrudge his brother his freedom (too much), although he did wish that Thomas would pay a little more attention. But Thomas could not be changed.
• Thomas actually grew into a charismatic, handsome young man, very few cares in the world and plenty of money and women to be had. Olivier attempted to ignore some of the less complimentary rumours Thomas garnered for himself, but personally he never did see proof or action - merely words and thoughts that circled and then settled once again.
• After a family tradition of militia service, Olivier joined as soon as he finished his education - in this case a degree (the equivalent) in English and History, with minors in teaching and psychology his parents had mixed reactions to at the graduation.
• Within the militia he quickly rose not precisely within the ranks but at least as the sort of guy you wanted by your side.
• Finally got augmentations and upgrades when he realised that on the many rescue missions he kept running, he would simply, literally, save more lives with them. The benefits instantly became higher than the risks or whatever compunctions he might have had personally.
• At some point he fell in love with a woman - also from D1 - named Anne de Breuil. His parents approved - as did hers, but she would have been marrying slightly up, because D1 is still full of complete idiots.
• She became intensely manipulative, to a point where Olivier could not see, nor could he escape.
• Thomas, oddly, became the catalyst that broke all of this, and to this day Olivier does not know whether to trust more his dear dead younger brother Thomas, who claimed Anne was a liar and a thief and a murderer, or to trust his dear departed devoted wife Anne, who claimed Thomas had tried to rape her and that she killed him out of self-defense.
• At the same time, while Olivier was more or less in shock, she very carefully framed him for Thomas' death, while at the same time telling him that the only way he could save her would be to admit that he had "accidentally" shot his own brother.
• When the militia arrived, there was a great deal of confusion.
• Olivier finally, near catatonic, told them to arrest his wife, Anne, for the murder of his younger brother Thomas.
• En route, the vehicle holding everyone crashed. It was impossible to ID bodies, or even to an extent work out how many of them were even there due to extenuating circumstances.
• Anne was presumed dead.
• Olivier dropped nearly his entire name and moved to D4 to be away from literally as much as possible that reminded him of anything that had happened.
• Not too much happened aside from some military decorations bc workaholic until he became Alpha, at which point the timeline takes over.

notables ----
• Has a bit of a French accent, owing to literally having been taught French before English.
• Technically can speak other languages but this is all moot as the ports translate, so.
• Highly skilled with any bladed weapon, and also v. competent with most firearms. Hand to hand combat is not his best.
• About 6'2". Very skinny. Wiry, ropey musculature - honestly it doesn't look like he is half as strong as he actually can be.
• He likes most wines or occasionally liquid sunshine but more often than not when he's reaching for booze he's looking for whatever will take him out the fastest.
• In the Callsign propaganda and toys and shit, his 'main colour' is just black, with accents of forget-me-not blue - according to the little tags and pamphlets, this is because he's the "leader [... and] commands his callsigns with an iron fist and piercing blue eyes that see evil wherever it takes root." Or something. Athos really cannot express how much he doesn't care for the PR thing.
• Is known for not being particularly expressive - a small smile on his face is the equivalent of a broad one on anyone elses' - but despite that clearly isn't some sort of automaton.
• In his years as Alpha, he has attempted to at least answer as many questions and solve as many of the questions and problems presented to him, respectfully. (Not that they had to be respectfully submitted to his attention, you know what I mean.)
• Surprisingly good basketball player. Although this is literally never going to come up.
