Personality:
Casually linking you to the personality I wrote for another game. There's also a vaguely humourous canonical history section there as well if you want it.

This version of him isn't quite so reserved, although he's still very much more than most. He smiles a little bit easier, but still doesn't laugh. Having not had the same rigid class structures, not quite the same bleakness that his canonical counterpart had, this version is a little bit... softer around the edges, I suppose, but for the most part their responses and reactions will remain the same. He's capable both of delegation and over-working himself, of playing the hard-ass when necessary but preferring to allow people their own space to make certain judgement calls and the like.

THERE IS a certain amount of melancholy to him that is a result of being without his friends in this reality, but he'll have slightly other friends in place that don't quiiite fill the void but should help enough to keep him from being depressed all the time.

Background:
  • Born in District One to a family with a history of shiny militia service and a very proud connection to their French heritage, to the point where they learned French before English. Olivier was always a bit calmer, a bit more sharp-edged than his little brother, Thomas, who seemed to get along with just about everyone charismatically and openly. Not that both weren't without charisma, just that Olivier's could border on intense, while Thomas was somewhat more light-hearted.

  • As the eldest, was expected and did ultimately join the militia as soon as was possible upon the completion of his education. He didn't necessarily feel the need to, but it was what was expected, and by that point things were so tense with his parents that he was happy to leave. The only thing that made it somewhat difficult was his girlfriend, Anne, who wasn't as pleased with his decision to blindly follow in the footsteps of his family.

  • He married Anne when he was twenty-six, and they had a very happy, passionate, &c. marriage for all of a year before everything turned p much to shit. Thomas died under very suspicious circumstances while at home alone with Anne, whereupon their relationship took an understandable nosedive. It wasn't until after that incident that Athos realized she was highly manipulative and wizened to her ways somewhat. Once he became less easily moulded, she left, abruptly and without further explanation, but only after attempting to frame him for her "death". He hasn't seen her since and basically by this point assumes that she actually has died, since none of his research has ever panned out into anything useful. Her own family seems to blame him for her disappearance, and it's created tensions between both houses, which is just fun.

  • Threw himself pretty heavily into his life within the militia after... all of that, as well as into whatever case of alcohol happened to be handy, off and on. His ability to think quickly and strategize with limited resources brought him into various training positions here and there, as well as be placed on small-team recon missions. He accepted a couple of upgrades along the way in order to better his natural abilities for some of these, but for the most part, he's a bit of an oddball and prefers to just push himself.

  • For someone who has natural leadership abilities, he's been somewhat hesitant to actually grow too close to most of his fellow callsigns. His induction into them was only a handful of years ago, and since then he's managed to neither piss off nor get too close to nearly all of them. He manages friendliness easily enough, and doesn't necessarily rebuff attempts to hang out – he cares about people and checks in to make sure people have what they need when he's in a position to help them out, but he's still quite fond of his alone time in the interims.

  • He has not spoken to his parents except where absolutely necessary – or just when his mother calls him and doesn't let him get a word in edgeways – in almost four years. As he is the sole heir at present, they have an interesting situation wherein they can't all simply cut communication off entirely, but none of them are particularly happy with the arrangement. Adding to that stress, his father is in somewhat failing health, so guess whose mom has been calling more frequently.
