we know when this is okay i'm already tired of the 're:' thing

She doesn't seem particularly impressed and at first he can't tell if that's levelled at himself or not. She hadn't previously been blaming him for the rapid decline in the militia's competency, but who knows. After his explanation her opinions might have changed.

Although it is definitely nice to hear that they haven't, and Alpha offers another small smile as she does reply, because again, he was excited to see her for so many more reasons than simply getting the chance to meet the woman behind all those stories. She would be what helped finally get things done and changed - and look, not even a week in and she's already doing just that.

He watches her stand, citing back problems, and then glances at his desk and everything that he was getting started on for a moment before he takes his hand and swipes it all to the side, then keys in his code at the bottom right corner to lock it. Then he stands too, pulling the jacket off the back of his chair and sliding it on. She didn't quite order - well, in all honesty she didn't order at all, but. Having grown up the way that he did, he can typically tell when a card is being played, and Victor has already been having fun playing up her age. So he is clearly coming, grabbing the essentials and putting them in his pockets while he comes out from around the desk and locks the door to his office behind them both. Upon that, he turns to her. A small gesture, coupled with, "Lead on."
